Rush Hour jazz this month features Ed Kainyek.
An alumnus of the Leeds Jazz Rock Orchestra and now a local legend on the Manchester jazz scene, Ed Kainyek cites Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, Joe Henderson, Phil Woods and Grover Washington as key influences on his playing, although his sound is truly his own, and with each solo he makes his own statement.
As the house band at the Salford Kings Arms and, more recently, the Indigo Bar Jazz Jam, his jazz quartet has built up strong musical relationships and versatility. Ed is extremely versatile, and is comfortable playing Latin or funk just as he is playing jazz and blues.
He’ll be accompanied by the Jazz Leeds trio.
Chill out with a drink or coffee after work for an hour’s jazz in Seven Bar on the third Wednesday of the month.
Music starts 6pm finishes 7pm
